Quiet Roars by Helaine's avatar

I smiled all the way through this because it confirms something I've been wondering for a while: maybe happy writers all have this kind of overlap. We don't really write in different lanes—we simply keep following our curiosity wherever it leads. The subjects look different. The voice is always the same.

Quiet Roars wanders from turtles to New York City, from my garden to the subway, from family stories to writing itself. None of it was ever a branding strategy. They're just different doors into the same house.

I once had chickens. Even they had their own book: ‘The Adventures of the Hollywood Hens: The First Escape’. They're long gone now, and I still miss the fresh eggs.

Which brings me to the question that's been nagging at me. Living off-grid in a cave in rural Spain... how on earth do you keep your laptop charged? More importantly, where do you get whatever mysterious juice powers the writing itself—and the uploading of all those words to Substack? Because judging by your output, you've clearly found a renewable source.

Maybe that's the real overlap happy writers share. We don't run on algorithms or niches. We run on fascination. The subjects change. The current doesn't.

Always interesting no matter the content or theme. I especially enjoy hearing about your living situation.
