When the Pandemic hit I decided that while walking my dogs, especially, I would look every passerby in the eye and say something "cheerful". Waving to trash collector and recycling collector and Amazon drivers included. Anyone could have a medical crisis on the sidewalk, and I'd like to think I'd be the first one to dial 911 and keep them company until help arrived. Short of an emergency, everyone is someone's son or daughter, and deserves to be seen and acknowledged. How hard is it to smile?
